“Whenever I enter a patient room, I am hoping to explain to the patient what is causing their pain and then provide them recommended treatment options. As a physician, I endeavor to keep up-to-date on the latest medical procedures and medications to help patients return to normal function.
Interventional Pain Consultants is an area leader in Spinal Cord Stimulation and Dorsal Root Ganglion Stimulation. I understand that all patients are different and so treatment options might alter because of personal differences. We will do our best to provide options that have the lowest risk to the patient. Additionally, I will attempt to provide options that are not addictive and not life threatening. I look forward to being part of your health care team at Interventional Pain Consultants. We team up with the finest hospitals maintaining medical privileges at Alton Memorial Hospital and Missouri Baptist hospital.”

“My background has primarily been urgent care. However, I have grown to love the specialty of pain management. I enjoy being able to follow my patients through their journey of feeling better. My goal as a provider is to listen to my patients, educate them regarding their diagnosis, and provide a plan of care that is safe and individualized towards each patient. I look forward to working with you.”
Brandy Byrd, FNP-C
Brandy is at our Alton clinic Monday – Thursday and is currently accepting new patients.
“I have worked in Pain Management under Dr. Buenger since 2015. Pain management is a specialty where most patients are seen on a frequent basis. While I’m sure patients would rather not come to a provider so often, I enjoy getting to know them and learning about their lives. Similarly, I enjoy when patients come back after having procedures or medication changes that have allowed them to do something they could not do before. I love being able to help them spend more time with their family.”
Candace Charles, PA-C
Candace is at our O’Fallon clinic Monday – Thursday and is currently accepting new patients.
“I am a 24 year Army veteran and received all of my medical training through the Army. Through this training, I have been practicing medicine for over 28 years. Previously, I worked as a Respiratory Therapist before doing a career change to a Physician Assistant. It has always been my passion to help people.
I never thought I would gravitate towards the field of pain management until I started working with Dr. Buenger over four and half years ago. I saw how passionate he is about pain management and how he made a difference in so many of his patients’ lives with simple things such as epidural injections. I was sold! Then, I began to experience the same fulfillment with my own patients and felt this was my calling.
My goal for patients is to give them back the part of their life they feel that chronic pain has taken away from them. Working cohesively with my IPC team allows me to do so. I look forward to meeting you and making a difference in your life!”
Tricia Clayton, FNP-BC
Tricia is at our Alton clinic Monday – Thursday and is currently accepting new patients.
“I personally feel like the Lord has me right where he wants me. I love being able to get to know patients and their families while working together to come up with the treatment plan that best fits their needs. My favorite part about this job is helping to improve functionality and quality of life for patients. I love to teach and explain the disease process and the many treatment options available, as well as the evidence-based practice/research surrounding these treatment plans.
I love health and wellness, so sometimes it is not always about treating something that already exists, it is about prevention. I like to get to know my patients to the point where I know what motivates them so I can utilize this in setting goals and getting them on the path to wellness.”
